چکیده

Understanding the genes involved in cell volume regulation is an important area in biological research. Modern screens involving RNA interference often involve analyzing many thousands of cells, and manual techniques are too slow. We describe a fully automated method for estimating the volume of spherical mitotic cells, within given bounds, based on a learned membrane classifier and a circular Hough transform. The method is suited to high-throughput analysis, and its performance is evaluated on a set of manually annotated image sequences.

Automated Analysis of Cell Migration in Time - Lapse Microscopy

The process required to track cellular structures is a key task to quantitatively describe the biological implications associated with cell migration. With the advent of modern microscope that has vastly increased the volume of image data the development of automated tracking solutions is becoming a prerequisite for cellular analysis [1]. In this research we developed a fully automated framewor...

Automated analysis of time lapse microscopy images

Cells are the building blocks of life, and time lapse microscopy is a powerful way to study cells. Automated video acquisition and analysis of cells opens unprecedented opportunities, ranging from building novel mathematical models supported by rich data to automated drug screening. Unfortunately, accurate and completely automated analysis of cell images is a difficult task. Therefore human int...

Wide field-of-view on-chip Talbot fluorescence microscopy for longitudinal cell culture monitoring from within the incubator.

Time-lapse or longitudinal fluorescence microscopy is broadly used in cell biology. However, current available time-lapse fluorescence microscopy systems are bulky and costly. The limited field-of-view (FOV) associated with the microscope objective necessitates mechanical scanning if a larger FOV is required. Here we demonstrate a wide FOV time-lapse fluorescence self-imaging Petri dish system,...

Quantification of Local Morphodynamics and Local GTPase Activity by Edge Evolution Tracking

Advances in time-lapse fluorescence microscopy have enabled us to directly observe dynamic cellular phenomena. Although the techniques themselves have promoted the understanding of dynamic cellular functions, the vast number of images acquired has generated a need for automated processing tools to extract statistical information. A problem underlying the analysis of time-lapse cell images is th...
